Pursuing your career goals

@amymarshment on Instagram

I was pushed in the right direction to alleviate my worries and explore my thoughts within this blog post by a lovely fellow creative! It's hard switching careers or career paths, when you need stability and a routine to "tide you over". You're encouraged on what to do, what not to do and to keep yourself in a comfortable position. Your happiness is the ultimate.

I've always veered more to a creative side, and have struggled with trying to do "what I'm meant to do" or sticking to academia because I have a promising knack for "that side of things". In essence, what I'm trying to explain is that writing and photography is my true passion. It's a scary, competitive market and I've always wanted to be as honest and as fun on my personal site as possible. I've written for a variety of publications, assisted with people's social media and got excited over my own blog's steady progression.

Ultimately my blog is my hobby, I don't earn from my blog and only showcase brands and people I have a real interest in. I'd love to write full time, delve into the marketing and social media side and be a part of the creative world.

Things I'm going to up my game on in hoping of pursuing my career goals of the future...

  1. Try to keep up to date/note any submissions
  2. Have a fantastic CV that showcases my work and doesn't sound too generic
  3. Approach more and try to grow in confidence
  4. Take way more photos in and around places I have ventured
  5. Engage more in chats and accounts

I'd like to get out there a bit more & fingers crossed become a part of something special. I've written and been a teeny part of this amazing industry for years. I've had the chance to do such wonderful things considering I'm read by so little. You should be thankful for every brand, trip or connection within the blogging world as you just don't know what might happen next.

My top things to write about have always been.

  1. Foodie posts
  2. Beauty
  3. Accessories
  4. Interiors
  5. Honest posts
I'd love to do more fashion posts, it's just getting the shots right. The great thing about the industry is that you can be as open, varied and personal as possible.
